Here at Mufaro’s Family Foods we’re unashamed of harbouring somewhat of an obsession for gastric health and general wellbeing, while we’ve established ourselves within that field using dairy produce we were still relatively unseasoned in the dairy-free category…
Until now, of course.
Jambo! is a gluten-free cultured cereal drink suitable for vegans and vegetarians, born from a principle traditionally applied all over the world wherein various cultures would ferment grain into a non-alcoholic beverage. We improved on this general idea when we sought out .
Finger Millet, a crop indigenous to Africa and widely grown in the Asian subcontinent for it’s vast beneficiary properties. Finger Millet is rich in polyphenols, dietary fibre and the appetite lowering amino acid Tryptophan, making it effective in aiding weight loss. Finger Millet is a brilliant source of calcium and natural irons making it essential in the maintenance of bones and management of anaemia.

Our Hodzeko Amasi cultured milk staple is based on an old recipe from Southern Africa and construed to a British standard.
Using only fresh British milk from our happy dairy cows to which equally fresh cream is added, we pasteurise the mixture to rid it of any harmful micro-organisms and create a platform of purity for our good, happy and beneficial bacteria to thrive on.
Once we're content with the standard of friendly culture in our healthy African yoghurt and cultured milk we move it to a chiller where it's kept nicely fresh and active, ready to eat!
We appreciate that our busy lives affect our eating habits; what, when, where and how we eat. Furthermore, the stress associated with our busy lives, as well as the use of antibiotics when we fall ill, affects the natural balance of good and bad bacteria in our digestive tracts; in favour of the bad ones.
This leaves the body more vulnerable to infections caused by salmonella and E. coli, among other disorders.
